Harry’s Cafe on Kamakee Street in Honolulu offers a straightforward, no-frills dining experience that feels deeply rooted in local breakfast and lunch traditions. This modest spot is a favorite for those looking to start their day with hearty, homemade island-style meals, especially if you appreciate the comfort of classic Hawaiian plate lunches and loco moco variations.

The café’s atmosphere is unpretentious and casual, with just a few tables inside and one outside, making it suited for a quick bite or a relaxed mid-morning meal. It’s common to find locals dropping by early, as the owner prepares many dishes from scratch during the early hours—so getting here before popular items sell out can be key. Metered parking across the street adds convenience if you’re driving through the neighborhood.

The menu centers on familiar Hawaiian breakfast staples like corned beef hash loco moco, Portuguese sausage with egg fried rice, and generous portions of pancakes and French toast. For those seeking something savory, the roast beef loco moco or kalbi steak with eggs stand out as satisfying options. Portions tend toward generous, with homemade gravies and sauces that many locals appreciate for their down-to-earth flavors.

Service tends to be warm and personable, with a friendly staff that mirrors the laid-back neighborhood vibe. The café works well for anyone looking to fuel up before work or after a morning stroll, and it hits a sweet spot for families or individuals who enjoy classic, home-style Hawaiian fare without pretense.

Today I got to try their Lupchong with 2 eggs and rice for $15.95 and it was good and the service was great with smiles.

The food here is homemade and absolutely delicious. The staff were exceptionally friendly and worked hard to ensure every guest felt welcome and satisfied. I ordered the fried rice loco moco, which featured a thick, juicy hamburger patty, perfectly cooked fried rice, two sunny side up eggs, and a flavorful gravy. My husband had the hamburger steak omelet with cheese, which was equally impressive—generously filled with savory hamburger and plenty of gooey, melted cheese. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely be returning.

Great local spot for delicious breakfast and lunch. Roast beef loco moco was the special that day and was fork cut tender. All home made, even the gravy! Was told by the owner she preps in the early hours! So remember if they’re out of something, come back the next day - missed out on the fried rice :( Huge pancakes, fresh handmade items, and awesome people. They only had two people working that day -but still came out quickly- so be patient, food is worth it! Great people and history! Thank you!

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Metered parking across the street. We ate about 10:45 and finished about 30 minutes later. Staff was polite, friendly and helpful. I had a BLT sandwich with a bowl of corn chowder. Both were excellent! Restaurant had 3 tables inside for dine in along with one table outside. Definitely a good choice for lunch!

Great breakfast! The breakfast specials between 5-8am are good value, but lots of other great food. We really liked their fried rice, fluffy pancakes, and the home made corned beef loco moco. Street parking only but worth stopping by.

Felt like eating in someone's kitchen. Food was phenomenal. Not exaggerating, some of the best pancakes and bacon we've ever had. Couldn't get enough of their fried rice.
